Open with an Oops

Reported by Nancy - July 13, 2004 -

Tonight Gibson opened his show with a report from Carl Cameron, in "Beantown" (as John so jocularly put it), about the upcoming Democratic National Convention.

Cameron's report was about what you'd expect: a brief sentence about the Democrats ("the themes will be values & Vietnam"), followed by Cameron's list of all the ways that Bush can counter any Dem momentum: there have been no attacks in the "homeland" since 9/11 even though "lots of folks" predicted there would be; Al-Qaeda is being decimated; we are "safer" than we were 4 years ago; & the GOP convention will have more "resonance" because of its proximity to Ground Zero.

All of which was amusing enough, if you suffer from cognitive dissonance.

Comment: here's the really funny part -- to accompany Cameron's report, Fox aired 30 seconds of video of some contruction workers working somewhere (I presume it was at the DNC site in Boston but, contrary to their usual practice of slapping labels & banners on everything, Fox didn't bother to identify it), followed by 30 seconds of BUSH campaigning, shaking hands in a crowd.

Thanks, Fox, for revealing your true agenda. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried!
