Vester Silences Audience Approval of a Democrat's Statement

Reported by Melanie - July 9, 2004 -

At 1:38 p.m. ET today (July 9, 2004) on Dayside w/Linda Vester, Vester and three female guests were discussing a range of topics. One of the three guests was a woman named Kirsten Powers, identified as a "Democratic strategist."

Powers opened the round table by making some very good points about the just-released Senate Intelligence Report on Iraq. She noted that Bush campaigned as the "CEO president" and said he'd take responsibility for what happened on his watch. She noted that even with all the failures of intelligence, the only person to have left the administration as as result, is a Democrat, George Tenet.

After Powers was finished, the audience clapped loudly. Vester stopped the clapping by saying "wooooha, woooooha, hold on!" and then asked a question of someone else.

Seconds later, guest Monica Crowley, identified as a "Fox News contributor," defended Bush by saying the CIA was "dysfunctional for a long time" and that it's problems were not "exclusive to the Bush administration."

Vester let the audience clap this time.
