Cheney Pressured CIA

Reported by Deborah - July 9, 2004 -

Former CIA Director,Stansfield Turner, surprised Alan Colmes and Monica Crowley tonight when he strayed from the party line. Turner stated that, " There was evidence that analysts were repeatedly questioned about links between Al Qaeda and Iraq and Vice President Cheney visited CIA headquarters ten times"

Monica Crowley unwillingly to acknowledge Turner's comment quickly responded, "The CIA is clearly disfunctional." Then Crowley immediatly launched into this unrelated attack," Democrats led the charge in gutting our intelligence services."

Stansfield Turner called Crowley's attack a "sweeping assumption" and then explained some mistakes that were made that weakened intelligence strength but he was clear that it was not a partisan situation.

When Colmes asked if Tenet resigned because of the recent report, Turner replied without hesitation. " Tenet did not resign. He was nudged out by the President."

This did not turn out to be a "slam dunk" interview for Fox.Turner had no intention of giving the administration a pass. He was there to give his objective opinion, which is rarely welcomed on this network.
