Worse than that

Jeff Birnbaum of the Washington Post, on FNL July 7, said at 3:25 EDT that if the economy doesn't create a million more jobs by November, Bush will have presided over the first net loss of jobs in his term since Herbert Hoover and the Great Depression.
As of now, 1 million more people are out of work than were at the beginning of his term.
Comment: These are not numbers to be proud of, but they are slanted in Bush's favor.
They don't take into account the growing population. The common wisdom is that 150,000 jobs need to be created every month just to keep up with the ever-expanding work force. In four years, 7,200,000 jobs would need to be created just to accomodate new workers. A net loss of 1,000,000 jobs from down-sizing and off-shoring on top of that figure would make that 8,200,000 more Americans unemployed than at the beginning of his term.
