Isn't this Stooping a Little Low?

Reported by Melanie - July 7, 2004 -

Neil Cavuto opened his show today (July 7, 2004) showing video of John Kerry and John Edwards together, while Cavuto said: "Boy, these guys look happy together." Then he announced that they had a body language expert coming up who would tell us what's really going on.

At 4:23 p.m. ET Cavuto introduced Patti Wood, a body language expert by asking whether Kerry and Edwards were showing "forced affection?" After walking the audience through examples she used in reaching her conclusions, Wood said that Edwards wants to be seen as "equal to Kerry," and that Kerry "responds to that by admonishing him" (via his body language).

Cavuto summed up: John Kerry's communicating he's number one and saying to Edwards "get over your slick self?" Woods concurred. Cavuto: Say you're right, and there is "a little bit of a tension convention going on here," what should we watch for?

Wood said notice if they stand side by side or if "Kerry's a little bit ahead."

COMMENT: Kerry's choice of Edwards as his running mate was announced yesterday. Are we stooping this low already Neil?
