Cameron's Continuing Critique

Reported by Eleanor - July 7, 2004 -

Carl Cameron started off the 11:00 Fox News (July 7, 11:01 a.m. ET) with a photo op of Kerry and Edwards. Cameron's first statement was that Kerry was late for a rally. Cameron immediately began his daily put down with, "Already, the democrats are responding with their rhetoric." (Gee, Edwards had been nominated for about one minute yesterday when the republican "rhetoric" started. The dems must be about 28 hours late.)

Cameron then quoted the democrats as going through a recital of Edwards history of rags to riches as he starts out poor and becomes a multi-millionaire trial lawyer suing corporations. Kerry is presented by Cameron as "growing up with a silver spoon in his mouth and marrying a billionaire wife. And now they're emphasizing family values?" (Said with a question and a sneer as he shows the Kerry/Edwards families.) Continuing with, Edwards is showing "Clintonesque eloquence" attempting to turn Kerry's background into a strength. (Fox is even willing to flatter Clinton in order to trash Kerry. That's a miracle!)

Comment: Anyway, and as usual, nothing positive is said about the campaign that Cameron is assigned by Fox to cover. The "fair and balanced" part is that Fox honors the campaign with their presence. The negative "rhetoric" doesn't count.
