Fox Giving Free Air Time to the RNC

Reported by Eleanor - July 6, 2004 -

Just in case people are still missing the fact that Fox is an arm of the Republican National Committee, Brigitte Quinn on Fox News (July 6, 11:11 a.m. ET), quoted three times in five minutes the RNC announcement that Edwards is a "disingenuous, unaccomplished liberal and friend of trial lawyers."

In the Fox News Alert at 11:05, a reporter (probably Fox) asked Bush if he agrees with this republican quote, while repeating it word-for-word. This Bush moment with the Prime Minister of Iceland is followed immediately by Brigitte Quinn repeating the Edwards put-down. Then she said it again within the next minute asking a quest, Jack Quinn, a former Gore staff man, what he thinks of the quote. She knew what his answer would be, but wanted to get it in one more time.

Brigitte then dutifully cited Edwards lack of experience as a "one-term senator, and a rich trial lawyer presenting himself as an average Joe." When Jack Quinn responded with Bush's experience as a "failed oil man and owner of a baseball team," Brigitte ended the interview.

Comment: No doubt, this entire day on Fox will be devoted to trashing Edwards, doing their bit to minimize the positive effect of the selection of Edwards as Kerry's running mate.
