Even the Letters Spin on Fox
Reported by Ellen - July 4, 2004 -
Every News Hound knows that letters from viewers are one of the less obvious tactics Fox News uses to spin its message. A letter read during the 7/3/04 "Ask Cal" (11:18pm) segment from After Hours with Cal Thomas is a perfect example.
The letter says, "I was told recently that John Kerry received three Purple Hearts but none were a result of hostile fire. Is this true?" That serves as a launch pad for Cal Thomas to reiterate all the details of the oft-repeated-on-Fox story of "the controversy" over John Kerry's war medals. How convenient! And isn't it strange that I have never seen any letters questioning George W. Bush's controversial military service?
