Update: Is Fox Cherrypicking Poll Reports?

Reported by Ellen - July 1, 2004 -

So far, I have to conclude that the answer is: Yes.

On June 29, I posed the question: Is Fox Cherrypicking Poll Reports? In a polite email to foxnews.com, I asked them why, on a day when their "You Decide 2004" page had two stories about Bush/Kerry polls, I did not see any reporting on that day's NY Times/CBS poll showing Bush's approval ratings at 42%, the lowest in his presidency and also showing that 57% say the country is going in the wrong direction.

To date, I have neither received a response nor seen any new stories including that data on their website. In fact, I found a new poll story today, on the site regarding Bush's approval rating, showing it significantly higher than the NY Times/CBS poll.

To be fair, there was mention of the lower NY Times/CBS numbers in a video-streamed piece by Major Garrett that night, as I posted in A Typical Fox Tactic. But, as reported in that entry, those numbers were buried in the middle of the piece where, it seems, Fox News hoped they might disappear.
