Saddam's Analysis

Reported by Judy - July 1, 2004 -

One of Saddam Hussein's comments when he appeared in court was that George Bush is the real criminal and that the trial was theater designed to help Bush win the election. Ironically, Fox and Friends seemed to agree with the last part (July 1, 8:16 a.m. EDT).

Immediately after reporting Saddam's reaction to the court proceedings, Fox and Friends went to William Kristol to discuss the POLITICAL implications of the legal proceedings against Saddam.

Co-host Steve Doocy asked if the court action would affect Bush's standing in the polls, noting that Bush got a bump after Saddam was captured last December. Unwittingly, Doocy may have bolstered Saddam's argument. Kristol suggested that any boost for Bush would be temporary.

Kristol then took a partisan shot at John Kerry, saying he wanted to see if Kerry would "overcome his partisanship" and praise the fact that Saddam was being brought to justice.
