Pick a Poll, Any Poll

Reported by Marie Therese - July 1, 2004 -

Big Story with John Gibson. Wednesday, June 30, 2004. 5:23 PM EDT.
Guests: Pat Caddell, Democratic Strategist, David Winston, Republican Pollster

On the topic of polls in the Battleground States, Gibson, Caddell and Winston discussed the latest Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Polls (yes, this time the Opinion Dynamics logo is back, unlike a few days ago - see my post Battling Polls)

CADDELL: You know there are polls showing Kerry ahead [in Pennsylvania]. The Zogby poll has Kerry...You know, I'm going nuts on these POLLS THAT DON'T AGREE WITH EACH OTHER (my emphasis). You know, generally overall, it's driving me mad, because the internals don't even match, so you try and add 'em up.

Comment: So even the experts are beginning to notice that something's not right about the polling numbers. Clearly, there are different voter samplings being used as well as different questions, which is leading to unclear and possibly incorrect conclusions.
