Sometimes I'm Speechless

Reported by Melanie - June 29, 2004 -

Today (June 29, 2004) during the second segment of Neil Cavuto's Your World show, Cavuto interviewed James Comey, Deputy US Attorney General. The interview covered several topics. At one point Cavuto decided to run interference for Bush and said: Some "are wondering about the zeal" with which "the administration has tried to protect Americans from terror," in obvious reference to the Supreme Court's decisions on enemy combatants and prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, announced yesterday.

COMMENT: Isn't is incredible the way Cavuto's question is framed? The Bush administration wants to hold human beings indefinitely (for ever and ever and ever), without the right to see a lawyer, without the right to know what, if anything they're charged with, without the right to have their voices heard in a courtroom, and Cavuto interprets it for his Fox audience as he did? Sometimes I'm left speechless.
