Pottery Barn Rule Broken
Reported by Eleanor - June 29, 2004 -
On Fox & Friends (June 29, 8:18 am ET), David Gergen, U.S. News & World Report, and former presidential adviser, addressed the "effect on Bush" of the turnover of power to the Iraqis.
Gergen said that whether or not the violence in Iraq subsides is a "political test" for Bush. Now the violence will go "inside the news," and "not be in the news every day." The U.S. media "will treat it like Afghanistan."
Comment: Tranlated, this means that the Bush Administration can more easily hide the violence in Iraq and not "own" it anymore, although we did break it. The pottery barn rule will no longer apply.
