Borked Again
Reported by Nancy - June 29, 2004 -
And not just by Robert Bork, although he was a guest on the show today.

Brigitte Quinn, following the official spin of trying to paint yesterday's Supreme Court rulings as favorable to the Bush administration, interviewed Robert Bork and Stuart Taylor. Bork was identified merely as a "former acting Attorney General" & not as a Supreme Court nominee who was soundly rejected by the Senate in 1987 because of his radical right-wing ideology. Nor was it noted that he was an "acting Attorney General" only because he was highest-ranking official willing to serve as Richard Nixon's hatchetman in the Saturday Night Massacre. Needless to say, Bork spouted the official line here -- it's a judicial disaster, activist judges -- & ended with the amazing assertion that "we have a lot of people here in the US who are in favor of jihad." Fortunately, Taylor (a senior writer for National Journal magazine), was more rational, & demolished Bork's ramblings effortlessly.

Later on in the show, William LaJeunesse's so-called "review" of Michael Moore's film, Fahrenheit 9/11, focused strictly on radical right-wing objections to so-called "inaccuracies" in the movie. LaJeunesse even recycled the disproved claim that four members of Congress have children who have enlisted in the military -- laughably, by focusing on Rep Mark Kennedy (R-MN) who has a nephew "serving in the military" but who has 4 children who are not.
