Weak on Logic
Reported by Deborah - June 28, 2004 -
In 1982, while Kerry was Lt. Governor
of Massachusetts, he opposed a Reagan
civil defense plan, so doesn't that make
him weak on defense now?

Michael Gallagher, in for Hannity tonight, stringently
questioned Michael Meehan about Kerry's opposition
to a Reagan civil defense plan in 1982, which cost 4
million. This plan would have investigated evacuation
routes to Cape Cod in case of a nuclear attack ,despite
the fact that there would have been no warning period
before an attack. Although Meehan repeatedly told
Gallagher that the plan was unrealistic which prompted
Kerry's stance, Gallagher kept insisting that it showed
that Kerry was not interested in preparedness.
Using an incident from 1982 to illustrate a point ,in real time.
is ludicrous. But that's only part of the absurdity. In 1982, the
Reagan administration had ressurected the 1950's myth that we
could survive a nuclear attack, if we were properly prepared.
Most informed citizens weren't buying this propoganda, at the
time, so Kerry's opposition indicates to me, that he was thinking
logically.
