Interview with Yossef Bodansky.
Guess the topic of his latest book! Why, yes. It's all about the fully documented, irrefutable and nefarious collaboration between.....are you ready?
Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden!
What a surprise!
This past week FOX trotted out a whole cadre of authors, including Mr. Bodansky, each claiming to have masses of documentation that proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that Hussein and bin Laden were bosom buddies, gleefully plotting the downfall of the United States.
One wonders: Why weren't all of these documents shown to the 9/11 Commission and included in their comprehensive report? Chairman Thomas Kean made a plea recently for just such evidence, basically saying "Speak now or forever hold your peace."
Curiously, the books all seem to be published by HarperCollins, a subsidiary of News Corp, parent company of FOX news.
They all bolster claims repeatedly made by Bush/Cheney that there was a verifiable, long-term, active collaboration between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. Vice President Cheney went so far as to claim that the administration is privy to classified evidence that proves the connection.
Well, where's the beef? Is HarperCollins so hard up for cash that it can't afford to donate a few books to the 9/11 Commission in the interests of national security? Or is it that the documents are too hush-hush for the poor dumb Commissioners to see? Or is it that there is no link and the whole thing is bait-and-switch?
Bush/Cheney and their surrogates toss around words likes "relationship", "ties", "links", "cooperation", "contact", "visited", etc. but never nail down definitions.
They give us no dates. No times. No places. No names. No witnesses. No sworn statements. No corroboration.
So far, the "evidence" they have released wouldn't pass muster in Traffic Court let alone in a Court of Law.
And FOX's reporters go right along, knowing full well they are playing word games and misleading their public.
What's uppermost in the minds of FOX talking heads when they book these authors on their shows? Sell! Sell! Get back in there and sell. Sell those thousands of outdated flights of conservative fancy stacked up in the warehouses!
