"Two Days Ahead of Schedule!"

Reported by Melanie - June 28, 2004 -

Dayside w/Linda Vester was largely devoted today to cheering the Bush administration for "turning over" Iraq "two days ahead of schedule." Opening the show, Vester cheerily said we did it to "thwart terrorists attacks," we "took the initiative" and "did it!"

Steve Harrigan, live from Baghdad said, "some polls show 4 out of 5 Iraqis expect things to get better."

At 1:12, heading to a break, Vester gleefully reiterated: "Two days ahead of schedule!"

At 1:35 p.m. Feisal Istrabadi, an Iraqi who, as he said, "really wrote the Bill of Rights," said it was "good." He said it "undercuts the ability of the terrorists to mar the day." Then, "I think it was a very good thing to do."

COMMENT: It's important for Bush's re-election that the American electorate think that power has in fact been transferred, when that isn't true at all. Nonetheless, Fox appears willing to do whatever it can to push that notion.
