Spinning Hitler

Reported by Deborah - June 28, 2004 -

Terry Holt, spokesman for the Bush
campaign, appeared on Hannity&Colmes,
to explain why Hitler's image on a new
Bush Ad is perfectly justified.
(6/28/04 9:32 PM ET )

The new attack ad on Bush's official website shows
successive shots of Dean, Kerry, Gore and Hitler
giving speeches with voices raised in anger. The
comparison is totally obvious yet Terry Holt managed
to initially blame Moveon for the ad.

Holt evoked the thoroughly tired and inaccurate myth
that Moveon.org had a campaign ad on their website
comparing Bush to Hitler and only took it off when
Republicans complained. Avoiding the obvious message
of the approved ad now running, Holt and Michael Gallagher
joined together to denounce Moveon.org and all liberals.
Holt continued to rant that the Hitler image was lifted
from Moveon.org's site but he was clearly trying to avoid
talking about the message Republicans were sending
in the ad.

At 9:35 PM, Alan Colmes found his liberal spirit and fought
back telling Holt that the message of the ad was unmistakable
and they were comparing the Democrats shown to Hitler.
Terry Holt accepted responsibility for the message blaming
"the elite liberal left who want to see Kerry elected" Holt showed
no sign of embarrasment about this Republican ruthlessness.

Comment: When the Terry Holt lost his campaign mask tonight,
there was a brutal and vindictive persona revealed to the viewer.
Even when he was confronted with his dishonesty about Moveon,
he remained unconcerned. Holt believes the Democrats who have
dared to question this administration deserve anything he can dish
out, even a comparison to Hitler.
