Even the Guests Notice

Reported by Judy - June 28, 2004 -

Fox and Friends departed from its usual format and actually had a Democratic guest on the program on June 28. Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-New York, came to the set (at 8:15 a.m. EDT) to comment on "the transfer of sovereignty" to Iraq, but he got in a dig at Fox News at the same time.

As soon as he was introduced, Schumer said he was "a rare Democrat" on Fox News. Co-host E.D. Hill quickly said, "not really," to which Schumer replied, "I know, I know."

But by then, he'd already made his point to the audience.

Schumer did a competent, but not flashy, job in presenting the Democratic case. For example, Brian Kilmeade suggested Russia and France didn't want to help in Iraq because of business ties to Iraq and said, "They all have dual purposes." Schumer agreed, but he said that was OK because, "not everyone sees the world the way we do."
