See This Movie!

Reported by Marie Therese - June 27, 2004 -

Last night - Saturday, June 26, 2004 - I saw Fahrenheit 9/11.

Today I feel like I've been through an emotional meat grinder.

Yes, there is the usual sardonic and pointed Moore humor.

Yes, there is some creative intercutting of what might be unrelated events.

But that's not what I remember.

I remember the children in Iraq - before and after shock and awe.

I remember stonefaced soldiers speaking casually of death, laughing about it, killing to music, and unaware that the fabric of the rest of their lives has been irreparably torn.

I remember American soldiers with no legs and arms, living on morphine, future addicts and alcholics, who will roam our streets, just as the Vietnam vets did when I was young.

I remember the sad faces of the Congressional Black Caucus as they made a hopeful and hopeless effort to stop the rush to war.

I remember the capitulation of the Democrats in Congress.

I remember the faces of news reporters I trusted, rationalizing an illegal, unjust and indecent war.

I remember the proud American mother whose son died in combat.

I remember my anger and impotent rage during the build-up to war.

I remember that Osama bin Laden is still at large.

I remember George Bush sitting in a kiddie chair in a classroom in Florida, unable to move, unable to act, a marionette with no master to work the strings.

I remember who put us in this situation.

A litany of greed: Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Ashcroft, Rice, Powell and their minions, Perle, Pipes, Feith, Cambone, Myers, Tenet, Sanchez, Miller, Lott, Hastert, Delay, Gingrich, Chalabi, the House of Saud - and FOX News Channel.

We report? What a joke!

You decide? Yeah, the way we want you to.

It's time to bring independence, courage and truth back to American media!

And it's way past time to throw these bums out of the White House.
