Fear Mongering

Reported by Melanie - June 25, 2004 -

In a "news break" at 4:30 p.m. ET today on Your World w/Neil Cavuto, Patti Ann Browne reported that 20 to 25 people were killed today when the US bombed a house in Fallujah believed to hold Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi. (I'd heard a few hours earlier, on another outlet, that we "just missed" al-Zarqawi.)

COMMENT: During this report, video aired of "militant" looking men wearing their keffiyeh wrapped around their heads, carrying rocket launchers and shooting rifles. I didn't see a bombed building. (Read on.)

What is Fox thinking here? Are they trying to justify the killing of the 20 to 25 people, in some subliminal way, as if to say "it's these kinds of people we killed?" No. I'll bet Fox (and thus the administration) fear they might have killed innocent civilians, so they're trying to plant the image of "militants" or "terrorists" in the minds of their viewers, just in case.
