Democrats Speak Out

C-Span covered the budget debate from the floor of
the House today and Democrats spoke out.(6/24/04)
Representative Charles Stenholm,D. chided Republicans for
blocking Democratic ammendments from debate. (11AM ET)
" All we ask for is a chance to have our ideas debated.Any
resemblance to a democracy in this house is coincidental."
Rahm Emanuel,D.-Illinois, told the Republicans ,
"You have taken a pass for the last year and the American
people have given this Congress a failing grade.."
All of the Democrats accused the Republicans of stalling and
blaming the impasse on them, instead of taking responsibility.
Their arguments were forceful and all seemed fed up with the
Republican agenda.
Stenholm ended his time with this statement.
"This hand is still out on this side of the aisle.I wish someone
would take it."
