Ratings Trump Everything

Reported by Eleanor - June 23, 2004 -

On Fox & Friends (June 23, 7:15 am ET), Mark Ginsberg, Fox News Foreign Affairs Analyst, discussed the airing of photos preceding the gruesome beheading of the Korean hostage. He said these are "acts meant to scare the daylights" out of people so the terrorists can get what they want. "We should question whether to show it or not."

E.D.Hill, Fox anchor responded, "It's going to be out there, whether we do it or not, so we might as well show it."

Comment: Another example of everyone else is doing it, so why not? After all, Fox doesn't want to lose viewers (and money) because they're not participating in the viewing of the blood and gore. I wonder where we draw the line? I guess there is no line they cannot cross when it comes to ratings, even if it means more beheadings due to the publicity.
