Tonight Bill O'Reilly yet again vilified Canadians who support two young American soldiers who have applied for political asylum in Canada.
Jeremy Hinzman and Brandon Hughey fled to Canada after the U.S. Army refused to grant them conscientious objector status. Hinzman has a wife and child who moved with him.
O'Reilly's guest was listed on FOX as syndicated columnist Rondi Adamson. A quick Google search revealed that she is very conservative and writes frequently for the Toronto Sun and the Ottawa Citizen, among others. (FOX frequently omits crucial background information on its guests).
Factor Exclusive: As most Foxwatchers know, O'Reilly has declared an economic jihad against France. On today's show he threatened to cast his net wider:
O'REILLY: If they [the Canadian government] do accept them and don't turn down the refugee status, then we launch the boycott against Canada. Are they aware that's comin' up there, Miss Adamson?"
ADAMSON: That I don't think we're aware of. But I'm not sure what you'd boycott!
O'REILLY: Nah. Well, they ought to be aware 'cause the thunder's coming from the south, if they let them stay!
Comment: O'Reilly and 25,000 of his most loyal fans have been boycotting France for its refusal to support America in the War in Iraq. The boycott is a pet project of right-wing groups like the Club for Growth and NewsMax.
I suspect any Canadian boycott willl land with the same dull thud the French one did.
Vive la resistance!
