Zogby Gets It Right

Zogby International is a respected pollster that got it right in the 2000 election, predicting that Al Gore would get more votes than George W. Bush. Zogby puts a monthly poll on their website with an analysis of its meaning. The following is a summary of the June poll.

The Zogby poll provides data in ten categories. The results for June are as follows:

1. Kerry/Bush - Kerry 44%, Bush 42%, Undecided 11%
2. Kerry/Bush/Nader - Kerry 44%, Bush 42%, Nader 3%, Undecided 10%
3. Bush Approval/Disapproval - Approve 46%, Disapprove 54%, Undecided 0%
4. U.S. Direction - Wrong 50%, Right 44%, Undecided 6%
5. Re-Elect Bush - Re-Elect 43%, Someone New 53%, Undecided 5%
6. Blue States/Red States - Kerry 53% (blue) 35% (red), Bush 34% (blue) 50% (red), Undecided 9% (blue) 12% (red)
7. Regional - Central: Kerry 43%, Bush 40%, South: Kerry 35%, Bush 53%, East: Kerry 52%, Bush 33%, West: Kerry 49%, Bush 41%
8. Ideology - Progressive: Kerry 77%, Bush 14%, Liberal: Kerry 70%, Bush 17%, Moderate: Kerry 58%, Bush 24%, Conservative: Kerry 17%, Bush 74%
9. Bush Job Performance: Approve 39%, Disapprove 60%, Undecided 1%
