Revisionist History

Reported by Judy - June 22, 2004 -

Did you know the insurgency in Iraq is just like the insurgency in post-war Germany

in the 1940s? It's not surprising if you didn't know, because Jon Scott was engaging in some re-writing of history on June 22.

In an interview with two senators that began at 9:14 a.m. EDT, Scott characterized the fourteen months of violence after the so-called end of "major combat operations" as the same kind of "mop-up operation" that took place in Germany after World War II.

Sen. Dick Durban, D-Illinois, pointed out that U.S. forces are engaged in much more than a mop-up of a few rogue soldiers, but while he was doing so, Fox News displayed "Happy Iraq" graphics on half the screen next to his picture detailing increases in college applications, vaccinations, and so on.
