Happy Days Again in Iraq

Reported by Judy - June 18, 2004 -

When it comes to Iraq coverage, it always seems like "Fox News Live" has made the Democratic theme song, "Happy Days Are Here Again" its own mantra.

That's because every story from Iraq, no matter how grim, always has a bright side.

The irrepressible Geraldo Rivera (alias Jerry Rivers) was in Iraq with the 1st Cavalry Division reporting on IED attacks on convoys. On June 17 at 9:33 a.m., Jon Scott introduced Rivera's piece by noting that despite all the attacks on convoys, "The U.S. military is constantly trying to improve the situation."

Rivera apparently didn't get the message because his report said nothing about fewer convoy attacks, but instead dealt with a recent death of one member of the 1st Cavalry. One soldier said that American soldiers aren't quitters and would continue to escort convoys, but he said nothing about the situation getting better.
