Fahrenheit 9/11 and NBC

Reported by Deborah - June 17, 2004 -

Matt Lauer interviewed Michael Moore about his new film,
Fahrenheit 9/11, aired in two segments on , The Today
Show. ( June 16 and June 17, 2004 7:45AM )

Each short segment covered one question from Lauer to Moore.
On June 16, Lauer was concerned that Moore had withheld footage
of prison abuse that he had obtained before the story had become
public. Lauer asked Moore why he hadn't given the film to someone
who could have done something to stop more abuse. On June 17,
Lauer asked Moore who besides the "Bush Haters", will be an audience
for your film ?
Moore answers to both questions were thoughtful , serious and
sensitive to the disturbing material in his film. Matt Lauer's plan
to discredit Moore and his film fell flat.

Comment : These two segments are part of an interview to be aired
on Dateline, June 18, 2004. Hopefully ,in the full interview, Lauer will be
less confrontational and defensive. The impression That Matt Lauer tried
to convey, was far from positive.Thankfully, Michael Moore has learned his
lessons well and the persona he presented was kind, responsible and
dedicated to his message.
