A "Good News from Iraq" Segment that Wasn't

Reported by Melanie - June 17, 2004 -

Singer Jolie Edwards was a guest today on Dayside. She recently returned from entertaining the troops in Iraq. Along with telling the audience how thrilling it was to perform at military bases there, Edwards spoke about how low the morale among the troops is. Her words didn't match Fox's graphics though because the banner at the bottom of the screen read: "Good News From Iraq."

In addition to saying the morale was low, she relayed a story about an important military person thanking her for coming and saying something like he'd lost 56 "boys from this base" and that "low morale kills soldiers," but when you boost morale, as he said she had, "it saves soldiers."

COMMENT: To anyone paying attention, you could tell this "happy Iraq" story didn't quite come off as planned.
