Setting up the Hostage to Take the Fall

Reported by Judy - June 16, 2004 -

Fox News may be trying to prepare the family of hostage Paul Johnson (and the rest of the nation) for the fact that the Bush Administration may do little ....

to try to save the man taken hostage by radical Islamists in Saudia Arabia.

On June 16 on "Fox News Live with Jon Scott," Scott pressed the point that neither the U.S. nor Saudia Arabia negotiates with terrorists (at least, officially). At 9:22 a.m. EDT, Scott interviewed Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-California, about what can be done to try to save Johnson before the 72-hour deadline the hostage takers have set for meeting their demands. Hunter said that negotiating with the terrorists would only encourage more hostage incidents. In case viewers missed it, Scott drives the point home, asking, "We are creating more of a problem than we are solving?" Hunter said the hostages should know, however, that the U.S. has shown it has an incredible capacity for tracking down people (like OBL, I guess) and that "anyone who kills Americans will be tracked down."

Hunter says one hope is that intelligence may reveal where Johnson is being held so that a rescue attempt can be made.

Scott intervewed no Democrat alongside Hunter. Why remind viewers that there are at least TWO parties in this country when you work for one of them?
